EXIBITION OF BUDDHA RELICS An Exhibition of RELICS OF THE SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA is currently being held in the Western hemisphere This occasion is proved to be exceptional as the people of the West get this chance only very rarely. History of the Relics of THE SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA goes back to 2552 years. Soon after the cremation of the Buddha’s body, these relics were distributed among several kingdoms of India. In later centuries they were disseminated in many Buddhist countries. Relics which are at present exhibited have been preserved by the people of Sri Lanka during last 2000 years. This exhibition is aimed at propagating the peace message of this Great Human Being around world. Intention of the coordinators’ of this event is to improve the spiritual aspect of the people through meditation, discussions on Buddha’s teaching etc. The first exhibition in Europe of these relics was held on the 11 May 2008 at HAUS DES RELIGIONEN, SCHWARZTORSTRASSE 102, 3007 BERN IN SWITZERLAND and was organized Zurich Buddhist Vihara under the patronage of the Venerable WALPOLA KALYANATISSA Maha thero, the spiritual adviser of the ZURICH BUDDHIST VIHARA. After 11 of May these relics are protected in the premises of the Zurich Buddhist Vihara with the inspection of the Chief incumbent of the said Vihara.
